Mystery of Roulette Appearance Revealed
Although the first known instance of roulette, which means little wheel in French, was recorded in that European nation in the late 1700’s and its origin is thought to be from Pascal’s creation in the previous century during his focus on motion, there are rumors roulette actually was molded in the hands of an insane Chinese monk way back in the 15th century. When he could not devise a way to conquer his own game, he marked the wheel with various numerical equations adding up to 666 which has a long association with Satan.
Quite honestly there has always been a shroud of mystery surrounding how the game was truly born, but even if the story of the monk is false, it still makes for an interesting conversation about the game.
Here are some of the reasons people refer to it as the Devil’s Game:
All the numbers when added are 666
If you put together any three numerals along a line you will receive a six or variation of one
If you sum up any three numbers across the board, like in games of tic-tack-toe you will once again come up with six.
Now let’s get to legends that are frequently promulgated about roulette:
The biased wheel. Many think this is an absolute truth and many wheels are out there just waiting to discovered and exploited for endless riches. Maybe back in time that was true, as some of the wheels may have had angles or ridges that influenced the movement of the ball, but simply holds no water in this era, as each wheel is customized and carefully maintained to produce no bias.
That croupiers can bend their will and their fingers to place the ball where ever they would like it to go. Even if they did possess superhuman powers, these dealers’ every motion is observed by the casino’s top brass. They would never tolerate this kind of behavior as they are not in the business to lose money. This scenario would just not occur and has been proven a single person that doesn’t touch the ball personally can make it move.
That Francois Blanc personally gave his soul to the Devil in order to beat the game. There is no proof this ever occurred and not any actual evidence there even is a real Devil. This story is farfetched to say the least.
